Don’t Listen To the Enemy’s Lies!

Enemy's Lies

Listen, if you’ve ever caught yourself having crazy conversations with, well, yourself, may I just tell you that you’re not alone!

However, I will also add that one of those voices is likely NOT you. What do I mean? Allow me to explain.

The Bible is filled with promises and good news. We know this. But satan wants nothing more than to keep us focused on ANYTHING that will…

  • Steal our peace (But the Word says… “Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.” Jude 1:2)
  • Rob us of our joy (But the Word says… “…For the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10)
  • Kill our testimony (But the Word says… “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…” Revelation 12:11)
  • Bury our witness (But the Word says… “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8)
  • Bring condemnation and guilt (But the Word says… “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1)

And SOOO much more!

Something Like This…

Here’s what some of my own “inside-my-head” conversations have sounded like.

Devil on my Shoulder, Disguised as Me: I just can’t do it anymore! I’m so tired of fighting…

Angel on the other Shoulder: You can’t give up! After all, it’s not YOU that fights your battles, it’s God!

Devil: Well, He’s not fighting them right now! Where has He been this whole time?

Angel: If you only knew the spiritual battle that’s going on… that you can’t even see!

Devil: I just don’t have any fight left in me… I just wanna quit…

Angel: Quitting won’t make things any better either! Stand up! Take heart! Have faith! It’s always darkest right before the dawn!

That’s just one of many conversations I’ve had with myself. You probably know the ones I’m talking about. The ones where you give yourself every reason for throwing in the towel, but something from deep inside you keeps trying to reason with the “you” that just isn’t seeing reason!

It’s not uncommon, you know. Just look at the first self-inflicted argument that ever happened. The serpent, in the desert, had Eve questioning what she really actually knew to be true anyway. She says, we can’t eat the fruit. He says, why? She says, cause we’ll die. He says, nah ya won’t!

And… she obviously allowed doubt to supersede the truth. She ate it. Then she gave it to Adam, and somehow convinced HIM to eat it too! And he was the one who had actually HAD the discussion with God Himself, about the fruit!

Just Like Us…

Not much has changed really. Satan is a liar, and the Father of lies, and there is no truth in him. He convinced Eve to do wrong, and he just kept on using that same tactic on every next generation. Cain fell for it. Moses fell for it. Aaron fell for it. David fell for it. So the story has gone, down through the ages, and here we sit, in the midst of another generation, wildly succumbing to every lie the devil throws out.

So sad, isn’t it? To see the same thing, repeated over and over again?

God’s Truth on the one hand. Satan’s manipulation on the other. Standing outside the line of fire, the choice seems so easy. It seems like a no-brainer.

Don’t scream at the kids this time, that’s just what the enemy wants!

Do not nit-pick your husband to shreds after he’s had a hard day at work, that’s just what the enemy wants!

Don’t look in the mirror and hate what you see, that’s just what the enemy wants!

Don’t stew on that traumatic experience you went through way back when, that’s just what the enemy wants!

Couldn’t we keep those statements going on and on? I mean, I could, I don’t know about you. The enemy has used me for a punching bag over and over. Yes, I’ve made mistakes. But the Bible clearly tells me I am NOT defined by them! I’m not defined by the worth another person places on me either, whether good or bad.

I am defined by the price Jesus paid for me when He died on the cross. And so are you!

Do You Know Who You REALLY Are?

I just want to share some next-level TRUTH with you right now. About WHO YOU ARE, and HOW YOU ARE SEEN by God. Let’s go straight to the Truth to get that word…

In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: (Colossians 1:22)

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:16-17)

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:4)

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13)

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14)

Only One Voice…

There is really only ONE VOICE we need to be concerned with, and that is the voice of God. Only His opinion of us matters. The great news is that He sees us THROUGH the Blood of Jesus!

That’s great news indeed! Better still, it is the Good News that we should spread to everyone, every chance we get. Maybe someone is going through what we have already gone through? Maybe they need a hand up, out of the pit created by the lies of the enemy. Don’t hide your candle under a basket! Let that little light shine!

If you’re NOT saved, that can all change! Get involved with a church that teaches the Truth, and not some popular opinion, and find out exactly how to give your life to God.

I promise… You’ll never be the same!
