Gutenberg Editor & WordPress 5.0

Well, we are two days away from WordPress 5.0 being rolled out, and the new Gutenberg editor along with it, on December 6. For some, I’m sure it’s an exciting time. Others are filled with dread. What does it mean, exactly, for the average Joe blogger?

I’m still not sure about that.

I’ve been dabbling with the Gutenberg editor since they made it an option some time ago. Honestly, there are things I like about it, and things I hate about it. I’m just wondering what it will mean overall.

Is There Help Available?

I’ve wondered several times now if there will be much support for this feature. I admit, I haven’t done very much looking. I’m a “hands-on” kind of person, meaning I usually learn more by simply jumping in and learning from the mistakes I make.

I’ve seen several links to the WordPress Support section that shows some good Gutenberg information. This morning, I received an email from Yoast, as I’m sure many of you did. There are some free resources available there as well.

I will be researching this more, in the future, as it looks like this is the only option we’ll have. We will see 🙂 Everything was new at one time, right?

We got this, friends!

In the mean time, if you have any resources on this, please feel free to drop them in the comment section! Thanks!

I too have used the Gutenberg format, in a test run. I found that it will not let you space paragraphs, as you wish. It compacts your post, and looks less professional. As of late, I click back to the Classic look, that gives me the freedom to layout my blog as I wish. NOT A FAN!

Yes, I’ve found this to be true as well, and I don’t care for it either. It stifles the artistic expression we’ve had in format options, I think. I’m wondering if we will continue to have the “classic” option after the official rollout? If not, I wonder if contacting WordPress support would help? I like having the option of blocks for certain content, especially reblogs, but otherwise, I’d sure like to have access, at least, to Classic.

Thanks so much for reading and for sharing your thoughts!
