I ran across this little nugget today. I spend a lot of time thinking about how to explain to my children what’s right and wrong. After all, isn’t that our Godly job description? To train up our children in the way they should go?
But the truth is, we live in a world today that has every form of ungodly behavior, perversion and outright lie – all aimed at our young people. I can’t imagine having to go through what my children go through, especially in light of social media and the kind of bullying that they have to go through on a regular basis.
It all amounts to scenarios that make it hard for me give a clear cut answer on.
The Bible is clear on things like murder, stealing, adultery and other sorts of things lined out in plain language. But when it comes to things like music choices, friends, jobs, and on and on, various voices often skew the lines. Especially when there are so many “alternate religions” available in every nook and cranny, that assure our kids it’s ok to just “be yourself”.
Mama always said, “Too many cooks spoil the stew,” and that’s surely the case these days! There are vast amounts of voices telling our children why “this and that” are ok, and so few saying the same thing that we, as Christian parents do!
The following article may not list everything we, as parents have to deal with, but it has some great ideas on how to judge between right and wrong when there’s no clearly defined answer to be found in the Scriptures. It’s given me something to go on and I hope you find some nuggets of gold in there as well.
